Arlene’s New Outlook On Life After Cataract Surgery

View More Testimonials

Cataract surgery is extremely common. In fact, the National Eye Institute determined that cataract removal is one of the most common procedures performed in the United States. If you are wondering if you may have cataracts, check out this blog post.

This is *not* your Grandma’s cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery technology has progressed significantly in the last couple of decades! Many people are still under the impression that glasses are required after having cataract surgery, but with modern developments people have the option to be able to reduce or even eliminate their need for glasses after cataract surgery with premium lens options and laser assisted cataract surgery.

One of our patients, Arlene, held off on cataract surgery at first because she didn’t want to be restricted to glasses after her procedure.

Arlene eventually got to a point where her vision was dull and she was no longer happy with how she was seeing. She describes her vision with cataracts, “it was like I had a sort of veil over my vision that was putting a brown cast on everything.” She was missing out on all of the vibrant colors life in Minnesota has to offer.

Arlene came to Chu Vision for her evaluation, where she was educated about all of her options.

When Arlene found out about the premium lens technology that could help her get rid of her glasses, she knew that was the right choice for her.

Basic cataract surgery is typically covered by insurance. Choosing to upgrade to a premium option does require an additional cost. But to Arlene, the choice was easy. Arlene describes her decision by saying, “this is going to affect my vision for the rest of my life.”

Arlene’s decision to upgrade her lens mirrors many patients we see at Chu Vision Institute.

We offer a variety of premium lens options as well as laser assisted cataract surgery to help people reduce their dependency on glasses and contacts after cataract surgery and get the vision that will best suit their lifestyle.

Arlene loves to read. “I am one of those people who will read a cereal box that sits on a table when I am eating breakfast, so being able to read wherever I am is really great.” We knew how valuable being able to read anywhere, anytime, would be for her.

We take all the personal details into consideration when we match people to the best option for them.

We interviewed Arlene after her cataract surgery to hear about her experience from her point of view. When we asked Arlene what she thought of her new vision she said “I woke up the next morning and looked out the window and I thought, holy cow! I had no idea the world was so white and bright, and so sharp and so clear. It was really a wow moment.” She adds that she didn’t know that she was missing such incredible sharpness of color and detail.
