Amy Jo’s Refractive Lens Exchange Surgery

View More Testimonials

Amy Jo has always worn thick glasses since she was just a toddler. They made her less confident since they were so much thicker than all the other kids’ glasses and made her eyes look larger than they were. Amy Jo wasn’t a candidate for LASIK, but then she learned about Custom Lens Exchange. Dr. Chu assured her the Lens Exchange was the best option, and after the procedures, she can see clearly for the first time!

When LASIK wasn’t an Option, Amy Jo chose Refractive Lens Exchange!

i can’t even put into words how life-changing it is i believe i was a plus-eight in both eyes really thick glasses since i was a toddler  they were really thick and i feel like they were definitely thicker than everybody else’s glasses  and made my eyes look really big and was legally blind so yeah it was hard with sports and all that kind of stuff and yeah and then i wore contacts that i had to special order they were custom so i couldn’t just order them online or anything i feel like i asked every time i had an eye exam if there was a procedure for me and then the last time i went dr holland said that there was but i have really bad eye allergies too so the contacts made it terrible so we were in Florida this year and i had a hard time with it and that’s kind of when i decided that i was just gonna try to do something Dr. Holland actually gave me three names and i checked into all of them and Dr. Chu had the best reviews and i just checked all three out and decided to come here nice everybody here is super friendly from when you get here to when you leave and just  really personable and make you feel super comfortable i had concerns i was a little bit scared about it and i just remember they kind of were like you know what we got you  this far and we’ll we’re going to take care of you we’ll get you the rest of the way so made me feel like i was in good hands just that i knew i had a really high script i knew already kind of that i wasn’t a candidate for LASIK i wasn’t sure if i was a candidate for  the lens exchange but Dr. Chu said yeah i was a great candidate for that so he sounded like  it was going to be perfect which it was um i was a little nervous on surgery day but i got here  and like i said everybody’s so nice and they make you feel really comfortable and by second surgery  day i was excited i always knew exactly what to expect and everything went really good so  that day i got in the car i was doing snapchats i was joking around i felt really good i didn’t take  any kind of tylenol or anything after my vision was a little bit fuzzy i think i had a slight  dryness or burning but it was virtually no pain and i could see you know right away just a little  blurry but i could see great outstanding i came in here legally blind over a month ago and now i  can see 20/20. so it’s super crazy i think they said when i left here i was yelling “i can see” like literally like i feel sometimes like i’m still wearing contacts and i kind of forget that i actually can see it’s just never been able to my entire life so it’s just yeah hard to wrap my head around um i liked Dr. Chu instantly he’s just really personable and really confident and professional and he was very matter-of-fact too like told me what would be good for me and that it would work out you know that i was a perfect candidate it would be great and so i was really he said he was really excited  for me so then i was really excited the day before surgery actually we facetimed and he asked if i had any questions and you know made sure i wasn’t too nervous or anything so yeah meeting him was really great just in every way like my mask doesn’t fog up at work with my glasses if i wear them i’m not self-conscious anymore which is really great all the way around it’s just such a better quality of life without having to fuss with the contacts and the allergies and i don’t know i can’t even put into words how life-changing it is  i would definitely tell them to set up a consult and there’s nothing to lose to come in and see what your options are it could change your life thank you literally it is life-changing like to wake up every day and not have to reach for my glasses or just be able to see or do things and not have to worry about it it’s just like literally a miracle so thank you
